Requesting Tissue

The aim of the Tissue Bank is to ensure that scientists have access to the material they require to carry out research into Parkinson's Disease. If you are currently engaged in such research and wish to request tissue, please complete the request form and return it to the Tissue Bank. Please take some time to first read the terms and conditions. If you have any questions, or require clarification of any of the terms, please do not hesitate to contact us.

If your request is approved, you will receive appropriate tissue selected according to your specifications. You will also be assigned a unique login to the tissue bank's database, which will allow you to access information for the relevant case(s). The database contains pictures (both macroscopic and microscopic), clinical histories, neuropathological reports and details such as age, sex and PM delay. There is no charge for this service.

In accordance with the data protection act, all of the case data has been anonymised. The database does not contain any personal or identifying information relating to the donors.

Researchers are requested to forward to the tissue bank details of any publications arising from work performed on supplied tissue. A sample of some of the research that has been carried out using tissue from the tissue bank can be found here.

Tissue for the study of Parkinson's disease can also be requested from the Queen Square Brain Bank.
